China's digital RMB users exceed 180 million, with transaction volume exceeding 7.3 trillion yuan
As of July 2024, the number of personal wallets using China's central bank digital currency (CBDC) e-CNY has reached 180 million, with a transaction volume exceeding RMB 7.3 trillion (approximately USD 1.02 trillion).According to Mu Changchun, director of the People's Bank of China's Digital Currency Research Institute, digital renminbi operates through account and value models, supports intelligent payment, and can be used without network or electricity, demonstrating strong adaptability and flexibility.
