Nearly half of Schwab investors plan to invest in crypto ETFs
A recent survey from financial giant Charles Schwab revealed that nearly half (45%) of its investors are planning to invest in cryptocurrency exchange-traded funds (ETFs) in the coming year.
The report highlights the increasing interest in digital assets, especially among millennial investors, who are at the forefront of this trend.
The survey shows that ETFs currently make up 27% of investor portfolios, and 65% of respondents plan to increase their ETF investments over the next year.
Among those surveyed, millennials demonstrated the highest enthusiasm, with cryptocurrencies playing a vital role in their investment strategies.
According to the report, 28% of respondents began investing in ETFs as part of a strategy to build wealth, and digital assets are now taking center stage in these plans.
Nate Geraci, founder of The ETF Institute, discussed the findings, stating, “New Schwab survey is out where they asked ETF investors which asset classes they plan on investing in over next year via ETFs. #1 for Millennials? Crypto. Crypto was #2 for all investors.”
He added that the results underline the growing role of cryptocurrencies in investor portfolios.
Bloomberg’s lead ETF analyst, Eric Balchunas, also reacted to the news, calling it "stunning."
He said, “Almost half of Schwab’s respondents said they plan to invest in crypto ETFs, more than bonds, international, alts. Pretty stunning.”
Interestingly, the survey revealed that nearly all ETF investors (96%) feel somewhat or extremely confident in selecting ETFs that align with their investment goals, up significantly from 71% a decade ago.
Geraci commented on this, noting, “[It’s] wild Schwab has this data still hasn’t launched spot crypto ETFs,” referring to the financial firm’s delayed introduction of such products despite the strong interest.
