REPORT: Animoca Brands Invests in 21 Projects in Q3
Animoca Brands released its third-quarter investment report, showing that it invested in 21 projects over the past three months, tying it with Robot Ventures, which focuses on L2 and crypto AI startups, as the most active investor, according to Cryptopolitan. About one-third of those investments were in early-stage or seed rounds, and 37.35 percent were in undisclosed rounds.
While overall funding activity has slowed from the 2021 bull market, 2024 is showing signs of recovery from the same period in 2023. Animoca Brands has completed 55 deals in the past six months, double the industry average. The firm typically invests between $3 million and $10 million, accounting for about a third of all venture capital deals. In September, the firm invested in five GameFi projects, raising a total of $38.95 million. The largest of these was a $30 million round in Balance (EPT) led by a16z.
Animoca Brands currently has over $291 million in assets under management and holds approximately $1.8 billion in token reserves. Its portfolio consists of 141 assets covering well-known tokens such as TON, SHIB, IMX and MATIC, with a total market capitalization of $6.04 billion.
