A claim about the true identity of Satoshi Nakamoto has spread rapidly on social media, sending odds tumbling in prediction markets.
Samson Mow, who is reportedly set to appear in HBO's upcoming documentary Money Electric, has sparked speculation with a tweet suggesting that the identity of Bitcoin's mysterious founder, Satoshi Nakamoto, will be revealed as Adam Back.
The claim was denied a few minutes later by Adam Back, who said Samson Mow was just joking.
Mow’s tweet had a significant impact on prediction market Polymarket, where bets on Adam Back being Satoshi rose to 76%. As of now, that prediction has fallen to 9.8%.
