According to The Block, analysts at JPMorgan have identified several key factors that could impact the cryptocurrency market in the coming months, including potential price-driving technologies, geopolitical events and structural changes. In a research report released on Monday, analysts discussed the seasonal "Uptober" trend, interest rate cuts by the U.S. Federal Reserve System, approval of Bitcoin ETF options and Ethereum's upcoming Pectra upgrade.

A key finding of the report is October's historically strong performance trend often referred to as "Uptober", with over 70% of Octobers yielding positive returns for Bitcoin. Analysts wrote: “While past performance cannot predict future results, we believe that 'Uptober' prevalence may influence behavior and lead to an upbeat performance for Bitcoin this October.” Despite recent Fed rate cuts, analysts noted that broader crypto markets have yet to see anticipated positive impacts; while lower interest rates typically support risk assets, overall crypto market cap correlation with federal funds rates remains weak at 0.46; since September 18th when Fed cut rates we haven't seen significant rise in cryptocurrency prices due to rate cut - markets might be waiting for more sustained stability before making decisive shift. Additionally, they acknowledged it’s hard predicting how cryptocurrencies will respond to interest rate cycles due to lack of historical data. Another potential catalyst is recently approved spot trading for Bitcoin ETF options which are expected by analysts potentially deepening market liquidity attracting new participants initiating a positive feedback loop strengthening market structure making digital assets more accessible institutional investors . The forthcoming Ethereum upgrade known as "Pectra" was also considered a major development where analyst stated: “Although Pectra is expected revolutionize Ethereum functionality we think this upgrade is more structural than direct price catalyst long-term effects likely improving operational efficiency adoption but unlikely trigger short term Ether price surge.”

Analysts concluded that currently cryptocurrency markets are in wait-and-see mode awaiting clearer macroeconomic or structural catalysts to drive sustained growth. They stated: “We continue seeing crypto ecosystem becoming increasingly sensitive macro factors hence we're waiting for next major catalyst to propel ecosystem development enhance retail participation thereby achieving long-term growth.”
