Zuckerberg showcases new "Orion" smart glasses at Meta Connect event
At the MetaConnect event held in California on September 25, Zuckerberg first showcased Orion, which uses a miniature projector built into the glasses arm to create a head-up display screen, making the display appear as if it's on objects in the real world.
Zuckerberg lifted up the new AR glasses and said: "Now, I think the right way to look at Orion is as a time machine." He added: "These glasses do exist, they are great, they show us an exciting future."
Orion can be controlled by voice prompts but also through what Zuckerberg calls a "neural interface" device that can be worn on the wrist. When wearing this wristband, Orion users can make specific gestures to navigate and control applications on smart glasses.
