Web3 voucher and rewards platform Galxe launches alpha mainnet of its L1 blockchain Gravity
On August 20, Web3 voucher and rewards platform Galxe has launched the alpha mainnet of its Layer1 blockchain Gravity. The launch of AlphaMainnet will bring all of Galxe's products (including Quest, Compass, Passport and GalxeIdentity Protocol) on-chain, providing a "more cohesive experience" for its more than 25 million active users.
Gravity is described as a Layer1 full-chain smart contract platform that aims to solve the Web3 fragmentation problem by "providing seamless cross-chain interactions and full-chain abstractions" to provide a smoother user experience. Gravity is designed as a proof-of-stake blockchain built with the Arbitrum Nitro stack. It is compatible with the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) and uses Reth as its execution layer as well as the Jolteon (Aptos BFT) consensus algorithm, which its team claims will achieve high throughput and near-instant finality.
The G token will be used as the blockchain's native gas token, driving governance decisions and acting as a growth incentive and means of payment within the Galxe ecosystem. The alpha mainnet will also support "chain-agnostic gas payments," which will allow users to pay transaction fees using their Galxe ecosystem balances. Currently, the fully operational Gravity mainnet is expected to launch in the second quarter of 2025.
