President Joe Biden has finally done what the Democrats have been begging him to do for weeks now. He has decided to bow out of the Presidential race and endorse Kamala Harris as his replacement, changing Donald Trump’s opponent, and by extension, probably the Republicans’ odds. Biden said:
“My very first decision as the party nominee in 2020 was to pick Kamala Harris as my Vice President. And it’s been the best decision I’ve made. Today I want to offer my full support and endorsement for Kamala to be the nominee of our party this year.”
Though the reasons are entirely too obvious, Biden still laid them out in his letter. He opened the letter by reiterating that America is the strongest economy in the world.

He praised his efforts like lowering prescription drug costs, expanding healthcare, and caring for veterans. And then also the passing of the first gun safety law in three decades and appointing the first African American woman to the Supreme Court.
Biden’s been busy. He’s passed major climate legislation and talked about how America is now a leader on the global stage. He made sure to thank the American people, saying:
“Together, we overcame a once-in-a-century pandemic and the worst economic crisis since the Great Depression.”
But despite these achievements, Biden believes it’s time to step aside. He wrote that:
“While it has been my intention to seek reelection, I believe it is in the best interest of my party and the country for me to stand down.”
Biden didn’t forget to express his gratitude. He thanked Kamala for her partnership and the American people for their support. “It has been the greatest honor of my life to serve as your President,” he said.
Biden ended his letter on a hopeful note, saying, “There is nothing America can’t do – when we do it together.” The president plans to address the nation later this week to talk more about his decision.
