TOP invests in Akedo to build Telegram games in TON blockchain ecosystem

Web3 venture capital firm The Open Platform (TOP) has made a strategic investment in Akedo Games to support its development of Telegram games in the TON blockchain ecosystem.
The Akedo team has contributed to game titles, including PUBG Mobile, LOL, AFK Arena and Rise of Kingdoms, with its first Telegram game, Akedog, set to launch on July 18, according to a statement shared with The Block, aiming to tap into Telegram’s 900 million user base. The value of the deal was not disclosed.
The "tap-to-earn" style clicker game enables players to click to get their Telegram NFT Pets Akedog, which they can “collect, merge, nurture and trade to enhance their abilities for exhilarating battles,” the team said, with players competing to build the strongest Akedog.
Buzzy Telegram clicker games like Notcoin and Hamster Kombat have grown significantly in popularity in recent months, with the latter claiming it has more than 250 million users. These games allow players to earn TON blockchain-based tokens for performing simple tasks like tapping on their screens.
Akedo will also benefit from TOP’s network of TON developers as well as its ecosystem resources, including the Telegram app Wallet for the TON ecosystem, a centralized exchange and staking services.

TOP is an ecosystem venture builder supporting notable projects on TON including Tonkeeper, GetGems, Notcoin, Ston.fi and Tonstakers.
