Over the past year, Strike has unveiled plans to expand its service to as many regions as possible to make Bitcoin accessible to everyone. In line with this vision, Strike announced expansions to Africa and Europe in February and April 2024. Fast-forward to June, the firm has announced that its services are now available to roughly 67 million people in the UK, marking a significant milestone in its global expansion quest.
A Significant Opportunity for Bitcoin Adoption
Strike has expanded its services to the UK. In a Tuesday, June 25 blog post , the firm disclosed that UK residents will now be able to compliantly access its suite of Bitcoin and Lightning Network services. These services primarily involve buying, selling, and withdrawing Bitcoin with free unlimited deposits directly from their bank account, all targeted at enabling fast and affordable Bitcoin payments.

Strike notes that users will need to follow a few simple steps to access these services. These steps include creating an account, filling in basic details, and passing an Appropriateness Assessment test required by UK regulators. After these steps, users will also need to wait for a 24-hour “cooling-off” period.
Highlighting the UK’s global economic standing, Strike tipped its latest expansion to strategically bolster Bitcoin adoption.
"With a population of 67 million, the UK is the second largest economy in Europe and sixth largest globally and presents significant opportunities for Bitcoin adoption," the firm wrote.Strike’s UK expansion marks a key milestone in its global expansion quest.
Strike Bitcoin Payments Now Available in 100 Countries
Following Strike’s expansion to the UK, the Bitcoin payment application is now available in 100 countries and territories worldwide. As highlighted by the firm, these regions include the U.S., Europe, Latin America, and Africa.

Despite the recent feat, the Bitcoin payment service maintains that its expansion is far from over.
“Our work is far from done. We will continue to expand to more countries, support more currencies, and add more features,” Strike surmised.

- Despite being available in 100 countries, Strike only has over 500,000 downloads on the Android app store. DailyCoin could not confirm this number on the Apple Store at the time of writing.
- The services offered by Strike put it in direct competition with payment giants like PayPal.
