Swiss National Bank extends pilot of wholesale issuance of central bank digital currency for at least two years
Antoine Martin, a member of the Swiss National Bank Council, stated that the Swiss National Bank has decided to continue its pilot project to issue central bank digital currencies for at least another two years. Martin stated this after the Swiss National Bank interest rate decision in Zurich on Thursday. The project, which was launched in December of last year and was scheduled to end on June 30th, was "very successful". Therefore, the project will continue to expand.
