BloombergTV's well-known host and economist Joe Weisenthal wrote on X platform that the crypto culture has undergone significant changes in the past 5-6 years. No longer do we hear discussions among the former idealists about blockchain democracy, universal basic income (UBI), and open internet, but rather all conversations are about finance and meme coins. In response, Vitalik Buterin stated that many idealized open internet projects have actually made significant progress, such as Farcaster, Lens, Quadratic Funding, Zupass, privacy-protecting ETH transfers, and ZK voting implementation.
