NYSE President Open to Crypto Trading, but Regulatory Clarity Needed
The president of the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE), Lynn Martin, has expressed openness to offering cryptocurrency trading, but cites the lack of clear regulatory guidance as a major obstacle. Martin believes that if there was clear regulatory guidance in the US, it would be an opportunity for the NYSE to consider offering cryptocurrency trading. Martin and Tom Farley, CEO of crypto exchange Bullish, discussed the impact of regulatory clarity on the industry, with Farley predicting that the US regulatory environment will improve in the next couple of years regardless of the election outcome. The NYSE's US-based rival, the Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME), is planning to launch spot crypto trading to clients.
