CME Ethereum options trading volume hits new high in May
Data from The Block shows that CME's Ethereum futures and options trading volume reached $1.26 billion in May. This is a significant increase compared to the $615.75 million in trading volume in April and sets a new record for monthly trading volume. According to Wednesday's Wintermute market update, CME's open interest in Ethereum futures contracts is nearing an all-time high. Wintermute analysts say that the increase in open contracts indicates that institutional investors are becoming increasingly interested in Ethereum trading (as opposed to Bitcoin) due to the expected launch of an Ethereum spot ETF.
