Alert: Scam Service Provider Inferno Drainer Resumes Operations, Crypto Community Needs to Stay Vigilant
PANews reported on May 21 that, according to screenshots posted by Web3 security researcher @Plumferno on the X platform, multi-chain scam service provider Inferno Drainer announced in its community that it is reopening to the public. After more than six months of private operations, it now has new employees, new working methods, new support, and new features. During this period, it has stolen $125 million for its clients, bringing its total stolen amount to over $250 million. Previously, Inferno Drainer announced its closure at the end of November last year, claiming that the stolen amount exceeded $80 million.
@Plumferno stated: "This is not good news, in case anyone is unaware... (Yes, I know they never really shut down, so I know many people won't be surprised at all)." Web3 anti-scam platform Scam Sniffer commented: "This also explains why there has been a recent surge in phishing websites using Inferno after the hacker scam group Pink Drainer announced its exit."
