Former Amazon Software Developer Creates Bitcoin Wallet App Called Machankura
Kgothatso Ngako, a former Amazon software developer in South Africa, has created a Bitcoin wallet application called Machankura aimed at solving the problem of millions of Africans without smartphones. The application can run on regular mobile phones and uses the Lightning Network for Bitcoin transactions, without the need for a touch screen or camera. Ngako said they already have nearly 15,000 users in countries such as South Africa, Nigeria, and Kenya. He mentioned that this service is similar to what Facebook does in developing countries, implementing reverse billing through USSD interfaces. Users can use Lightning addresses without the need for copy and paste functionality, simply entering numbers or email addresses to conduct Bitcoin transactions.
