Slow Mist: AssangeDAO’s crypto transfer activities are suspicious, investors need to be aware of the risks
PANews reported on April 3 that according to Cointelegraph, analysts at blockchain forensics company SlowMist expressed concerns about a possible “soft Rug Pull” incident on March 10, when a 100 ETH transaction came from the AssangeDAO address. to a recipient that appears to be affiliated with the decentralized autonomous organization. SlowMist emphasizes that although AssangeDAO’s true intentions are unclear, investors should exercise caution and conduct comprehensive due diligence when interacting with the organization. It is reported that AssangeDAO was established in 2022 and is famous for supporting WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange. Following the 2021 UK High Court ruling on Assange’s extradition case, supporters formed AssangeDAO to support his freedom, an initiative that raised more than $53 million in cryptocurrency donations.
However, a joint analysis by SlowMist and RescuETH found that starting in 2022, AssangeDAO moved the majority of its funds to multiple addresses, including several associated with crypto exchanges such as Kraken and Coinbase. Additionally, the group moved over 1,000 Ethereum into multiple unidentified smart contracts, spreading the funds across multiple addresses. AssangeDAO has not made any public statement on the matter at the time of publication.
