Dallas Billionaire Jerry Jones Invests $100 Million in Comstock Resources to Bet on AI's Energy Demands
Jerry Jones, the owner of the Dallas Cowboys, has invested an additional $100 million in Comstock Resources, a shale gas company. The growing use of artificial intelligence (AI) will require a significant increase in electricity demand to power new server farms, with analyst Michael Blum predicting a 16% expansion of the US electric grid by 2030. To meet this demand, new natural gas power plants are likely to play a role in supplying power for new AI data centers. Investors can target areas with high concentrations of data centers, such as "Datacenter Alley" in northern Virginia, with gas pipeline operators like Williams, Enbridge, and Kinder Morgan recommended by pipeline investor Simon Lack.
