Metis Lianchuang: Every L2 should have native Gas tokens
Metis co-founder Kevin stated in a post on the X platform that it is now relatively easy to build L2 using modular or other technology stacks. However, projects need to consider how to capture core value. In particular, for sorters, if all control is handed over to a business-unrelated shared pool, then there is no difference from the other 100+ L2s.
Kevin further stated that each L2 should have a native Gas token and establish a sustainable economic system around it. In this economic system, value is anchored to the Gas token, consensus is formed by staking Gas tokens in all sorter nodes in the community, and a contribution-based mining model can be implemented to share and distribute benefits to all participants in the economic system. Without value anchoring, staking governance tokens to earn more governance tokens is meaningless.
