Wormhole announces ZK roadmap and will soon launch light clients that support multiple blockchains

On February 1st, Wormhole announced its ZK roadmap, which will make significant progress in integrating zero-knowledge proofs, Wormhole protocol's trust assumptions, and overall blockchain interoperability. The roadmap includes:

Introducing cryptography expertise: The Wormhole Foundation has provided contributor funding to four new engineering teams specializing in zero-knowledge cryptography and will release announcements in the coming weeks.

Unlocking hardware resources: Wormhole contributors will collaborate with strategic hardware providers to accelerate the implementation of lightweight clients and purchase hardware accelerators for Wormhole contributors as the number of ZK-enabled channels and ZK verification messages expands.

Upcoming lightweight clients: Lightweight clients allow users and applications to quickly and effectively verify the state of the blockchain network (such as account balances, smart contract data, etc.). In the coming months, blockchain ZK lightweight clients (including Ethereum, Sui, Aptos, Near, and Cosmos) will be deployed and integrated with Wormhole, enabling trustless bidirectional data transmission.
