US, UK and Australia sanction Hamas-affiliated cryptocurrency exchange facilitators
Golden Egypt reports, the US Treasury Department's sanctions regulator announced that Australia and the UK are joining forces with the US Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) to impose sanctions on individuals and entities accused of helping Hamas facilitate encrypted and non-encrypted transactions in the global financial system, and to include some Hamas-affiliated financiers on the global financial blacklist. The statement said that Hamas uses cryptocurrency as one of its "multiple financial transfer mechanisms" to provide support.
