Solana Labs joint venture: developers will not be prevented from creating Layer 2 solutions on Solana
Anatoly Yakovenko, co-founder of Solana Labs, stated that developers will not be prevented from creating Layer 2 solutions on Solana. However, Solana's goal is to synchronize the global atomic state machine at the fastest possible speed within the limits allowed by physical laws. In this ultimate state, any Layer 2, sidechain, or zero-knowledge proof Valadium is the same. They are all external execution environments and cannot ensure atomicity with the rest of the Layer 1 state. Sidechains, data availability verification bridges, and zero-knowledge proof Valadium technologies are all innovative and welcome, but they cannot scale the atomic global state machine. Therefore, this issue may not be entirely relevant. Solana focuses on continuing to directly expand Layer 1, enhancing a single virtual machine instance on Layer 1, and hoping to only upgrade hardware in the future.
