OurSky, an open space application developer platform founded by former Vice President of Engineering at OpenSea, Dan Roelker, announced the completion of a $9.5 million seed round of financing. Investors include Upfront Ventures, Oceans Ventures, Venrex Investment Management, Marlinspike Partners, and Embedded Ventures.OurSky will add artificial intelligence and open source technology to stellar scanning, providing amateur astronomers with the tools they need. After announcing the $9.5 million seed round of financing, OurSky also launched a test version of a telescope network connected through an API.Roelker stated that OurSky currently has 55 online telescopes in 20 locations, used to track objects on Earth, the Moon, and in more distant orbits. OurSky will encourage amateur enthusiasts to join their network and share their data for collective discovery and tracking of space debris.
