Charles Hoskinson, the founder of Cardano, revealed on social media that the University of Edinburgh has launched a decentralized blockchain index called EDI, which aims to define and evaluate blockchain decentralization in a systematic way. The index includes eight evaluation dimensions, namely: 1) hardware, 2) software, 3) network, 4) consensus, 5) token economics, 6) API clients, 7) governance and 8) geography. It is reported that the EDI index will be iteratively upgraded, and other evaluation dimensions and methods will be introduced in the future.
