Social media platforms, collaborative online tools, and encrypted messaging are all helping to power a massive, decentralized resistance to the Trump administration.

The idea of a super app has always appealed social media companies in the US. The benchmark is China’s WeChat and to a certain extent @Grab in SE Asia. People can chat, make p2p txns, buy groceries, get cabs, book movie tickets, make eCommerce purchases, pay utility bills, pay at restaurants while checking menu, access healthcare services and so on. FB has famously tried to mimic this in the main app and ultimately gave up. US consumers are less likely to place their trust in a single platform for all their purchases. They prefer a separation of access - and place a slightly higher premium on privacy. Merchants also prefer less to lock user engagement within one platform and are wary to give them too much control. Both supply and demand side see bottlenecks for something like a WeChat to scale in the U.S. As for @X , their biggest challenge is fake bots on X. This will likely drive a lot of fraud when money comes in the picture. Companies like PayPal lose 100’s of millions each year in fraud losses. Adding a brokerage will only compound this issue. While I’m skeptical, these aren’t unsolvable problems.

As we've seen in the past, war tensions fuel crypto demand as a hedge — especially for Bitcoin and privacy coins. But with war comes market fear, risk-off moves, and unstable short-term sentiment. A prolonged conflict could also increase oil prices and inflation — making rate cuts even less likely. Trump’s previous term was marked by a tariff war with China, and now he's signaling new tariffs against the EU, which could ignite trade tensions once again.
