A representative of the Bank of Russia stated that recently the number of myths concerning the digital ruble, containing distorted information about the third form of national currency, has increased in social networks and messengers.
The authors of such myths deliberately frighten Russians that they will all be forcibly transferred to digital rubles and placed under total financial control.
There are reports circulating on social networks that digital ruble has allegedly already been introduced and signatures are needed to activate it, which must be digitized. In fact, these are scammers' tricks, and the Central Bank will launch the digital currency only in the summer, and it will not replace regular rubles.
In their messages, the creators of fake content specifically use excerpts from legislative acts in order to make the myths more credible and call on the population to never use digital rubles in their lives.
In fact, as the Bank of Russia notes, all excerpts from the laws have nothing to do with the third form of national currency, and further confuse citizens.
The department drew attention to the fact that digital ruble is merely an addition to the existing cash and non-cash forms of the national currency, and its use is not mandatory.
