Rapper Ty Dolla $ign mistakenly burned $500,000 worth of SUNDOG tokens, only to be rescued by TRON founder Justin Sun.
The incident began when Ty Dolla $ign expressed curiosity about meme coins on X.
The rapper tweeted , “What’s up with all these memecoins, tho?” He stated that he keeps hearing about them everywhere and wanted to understand whether it’s all hype or whether people are really making money off the hype.
Ty Dolla $sign buy half a million of SUNDOG
On October 5, Ty$ tweeted, “what if he drops $500k on a meme coin.” This eventually led to a $500,000 investment in SUNDOG tokens by the rapper today.
The rapper also tweeted about his purchase with the transaction details. However, the rapper accidentally sent the funds to the contract address. As expected, the transaction burned the rapper’s entire SUNDOG bag.
Shocked by the error, Ty Dolla $ign turned to crypto X for help, asking, “So it’s gone?? What am I supposed to do now?”
A few X users started tagging Tron founder Justin Sun below his tweet, which definitely caught Justin’s attention.
Justin Sun intervenes and compensates
Justin Sun came to the rapper’s rescue. Sun tweeted , “Don’t worry, I’ve got you covered. Sent you $500K TRX so you can get back in the game.”
TRON founder fully compensated Ty Dolla $ign for his loss with an equivalent amount in TRX.
Grateful for the gesture, Ty Dolla $ign responded, “Justin Sun you a real one for this Putting that RIGHT BACK into SUNDOG.” Ty$ then bought SUNDOG with the TRX that Justin sent him.
SUNDOG is a TRON-based meme coin that has a market cap of $255 million at press time. The coin has pumped by over 500% since its all-time low in August. SUNDOG is now trading at $0.2557 with a 7% surge in the last 24 hours.
However, not everyone has Ty$’s luck to be compensated for accidentally burning their tokens. This is why it’s critically important to double-check an address before moving funds.
