What is RSS3 (RSS3)?
Really Simple Syndication (RSS) has been around for over a decade and is widely used by bloggers, news outlets, and other websites to distribute content. RSS3 is a new protocol that aims to improve upon the original RSS standard. It was created by Linus Lee, a developer based in China, in 2021. The main goal of RSS3 is to make it easier to manage and distribute content on the web through decentralization.
How RSS3 (RSS3) Works
RSS3 is built on the Ethereum blockchain and uses the InterPlanetary File System (IPFS) to store content. The protocol works by creating a unique RSS3 feed for each user that contains all of their content, including blog posts, articles, and social media updates. When a user creates content, it is stored on IPFS and added to their RSS3 feed. RSS3 also uses a decentralized identity system called ERC725 to verify user identities and ensure that content is only added to the correct RSS3 feed. Users can subscribe to each other’s RSS3 feeds and receive updates automatically. Because RSS3 is decentralized, users have full control over their content and can choose to share it with whomever they want.
