Its goals are preserving the neutrality, performance, and reliability of the Cosmos Hub while being the sister hub where smart contract deployment can be offloaded to. The blockchain was launched in 2021.

JUNO uses CosmWasm smart contracts and InterWasm DAO. This allows developers to write highly performant and secure smart contracts that can be deployed to different blockchains and communicate across blockchains via Inter-Blockchain Communication Protocol (IBC). CosmWasm enables web assembly (WASM) virtual machines (VMs) to run securely on blockchain, which means that developers can test, secure, and speed up their applications better.
